History

Near Florence, in the township of Carmignano, our estate Le Farnete, owned by the Pierazzuoli family, extends over 120 acres (24 of which are high density vineyards),surrounded by olives groves and Mediterranean vegetation. The altitude varies between 150-250 meters above sea level.

Carmignano, besides being an high-quality vine-growing zone was also the ancient area where the Medici Grand Dukes planted Cabernet Sauvignon in 16th century. Our wine Barco Reale takes its name from one of the most important “nature reserves” established by the Medici grand dukes where they built a wall named Muro del Barco, which was 52 km long and 2 meter high. Our purpose is giving new lustre and recognition to the historic wine of Carmignano, a blend of Sangiovese (80%) and Cabernet Sauvignon grape (20%).

Sangiovese is considered the Prince of Tuscan vineyard and Cabernet Sauvignon represents Carmignano area and its typical autochthonous vineyard.
